"MY CLOWN"
JULY

You say you don't need me
now I'm not around
I think you decieve me
you are just my clown
But I love my clown
more than you know
stop foolin around
Sometimes you still my hold
and you're my brost? free
but dont think that you can
do better than me
Cause I love my clown
more than you know
stop foolin around
When my minds fill your head
just remember things I said
Don't no thinking paper head
just remember things I said
Will you cry when I'm dead
cry about the things i said
stay with me paper head
life is more than things I said
You say you don't need me
now I'm not around
I think you decieve me
you are just my clown
But I love my clown
more than you know
stop foolin around

"CRYING IS FOR WRITERS"
JULY

Reaching for his pen, he then commence to try to write the story of his life
Working all day and sleeping all night, what was there to say, what was there to write
Loving is for rich men, hating is for poor men, money is for fighters, crying is for writers
Living in the center of his own little world, his face never seen, his voice never heard
An endless stream of sorrow flows, a victim of the life he chose
Might as well write about the working of a 40 oil spot combustion engine

Putting down his pen, he turned and said I want to live but I wish I were dead
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

"GOTTA GET AWAY"
THE BLUES MAGOOS

It's gonna take a lot more than magic
to break this spell
I know I'm gonna be in for a lot of trouble
I can tell
Cause they gave you more than a girl should have
you're feeling so good, I never felt so bad
gotta get away
I wanna be free
gotta get away
It's gonna take more than a doctor
to ease this pain
I know I better make up my mind to split babe
before I go insane
cause I'm getting addicted to your brand of love
I'm getting so weak, I better hurry up
gotta get away
I wanna be free
gotta get away
Save me, before it's too late
I said save me somebody, I got to get away
Cause they gave you more than a girl should have
you're feeling so good, I never felt so bad
gotta get away
I wanna be free
gotta get away
I wanna be free
gotta get away
I gotta get free
"QUEEN OF MY NIGHTS"
THE BLUES MAGOOS

I'm looking for loving
And I'd like to stay
I'm hoping you'll want me
And show me the way
Touch me and give me sight
You are the queen of my night

It's evening, it's morning
I walk out her sun
Enchanted we wonder
Now that we've begun
As you come to me
You are the painter of my dreams

As you cling to me
You are the keeper of the keys

My searching is over
I can tell by your sighs
And then there is laughter
Of dawn in your eyes
Touch me and give me sight
You are the queen of my night
"WE AIN'T GOT NOTHING YET"
THE BLUES MAGOOS

One day you're up and the next day you're down
You can't face the world with your head to the ground
The grass is always greener on the other side, they say
So don't worry, boys, life will be sweet some day
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
We made enough mistakes
But you know we got what it takes
Oh, we ain't got nothin' yet
No, we ain't got nothin' yet
Nothin' can hold us and nothin' can keep us down
And someday our names will be spread all over town
We can get in while the getting is good
So make it on your own, yeah, you know that you could
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
We got to make the break
'Cause we got too much at stake
Oh, we ain't got nothin' yet
No, we ain't got nothin' yet
We made enough mistakes
But you know we got what it takes
Oh, we ain't got nothin' yet
No, we ain't got nothin' yet

"SOMETIMES I THINK ABOUT"
THE BLUES MAGOOS

Sometimes I think about
old folks back home
That 12 mile road that I used to roam
Sometimes I think about
that girl named Willie Jean
Wondering if she made it down
to New Orleans
Whenever I think about
the folks back there
You know I wonder
if they still have that old county fair
Sometimes I think about
that girl named Willie Jean
Wondering if she made it down
to New Orleans
We used to watch river boats
From a grassy bank
Drinking hot water
from a railroad filling tank
Sometimes I think about
that girl named Willie Jean
Wondering if she made it down
to New Orleans
The folks back there say
Why you come to home
Now here I am
Sitting here on this county farm
Sometimes I think about
that girl named Willie Jean
Wondering if she made it down
to New Orleans
Oh, Willie Jean, Willie Jean
Would you come back to me
Here I'm sitting here on this county farm
Willie Jean, Willie Jean
Would you come back
Come on, help me now

"WHY ARE WE SLEEPING?"
THE SOFT MACHINE

It begins with a blessing, it ends with a curse
Making life easy by making it worse
"My mask is my master", the trumpeter weeps
But his voice is so weak, as he speaks from his sleep
Saying: "Why, why, why... Why are we sleeping?"
People are watching, people who stare
Waiting for something that's already there
"Tomorrow I'll find it", the trumpeter screams
And remembers he's hungry, and drowns in his dreams
Saying: "Why, why, why... Why are we sleeping?"
My head is a nightclub with glasses and wine
The customers dancing or just making time
While Daevid is cursing, the customers scream
Now everyone's shouting, "Get out of my dream!"
Saying: "Why, why, why... Why are we sleeping?"
