 "LAZY RAIN"

SMOG (BILL CALLAHAN)

It's snaining outsideOr is it just lazy rainIt's six AM and I'm walking homeWhile the city twitchesIn a sleep of dog dreams
Me and a friend of mineWe just cheated deathNow I'm walking homeFor death's rain check
I open the door quietlySo as not to wakeThe blue-eyed wedding cakeBut she's watching me with one eyeThe sleepy little spy
She helps me off with my shirtBecause my arm was hurtIn a recent fallI slide into the bedThen my leg I threadBetween hersI put my good arm on her bellyHer hipsHer kneesShe is made of several babies
I keep my scratchy cast to myselfAs I feel our bodies meltInto two drops of lazy rainSnaking down the window pane
And when the two drops mergeThen there is the surgeOf one larger dropWe move faster towards the sill

 "CHOSEN ONE"

SMOG (BILL CALLAHAN)

Oh, you're a wild horseOn a collision courseWith the sunOh, you're a wild horseOn a collision courseWith the sunI wanted to ride that wild horseInto the sunI wanted to ride that wild horseInto the sunBut I no longer think thatI'm your chosen oneOn no, I no longer think thatI'm your chosen oneOh, wellOh, well
Maybe it's best for you to rideRide into the sunMaybe it's best for you to rideRide into the sunBecause I no longer think thatI'm your chosen oneOh no, I no longer think thatI'm your chosen oneOh, wellOh, wellOh, wellOh, well

 "I BREAK HORSES"

SMOG (BILL CALLAHAN)

Well, I rode out to the oceanAnd the water looked like tarnished goldI rode out on a broken horseWho told me she'd never felt so oldShe asked me if I'd feed herAnd ride her now and then
No no no, no no no, no no noI break horsesI don't tend to themI break horsesThey seem to come to meAsking to be brokenThey seem to run to meI break horsesDoesn't take me longJust a few well-placed wordsAnd their wandering hearts are goneAt first her warmth felt good between my legsLiving breathing heart-beating fleshBut soon that warmth turned to an itchTurned to a scratchTurned to a gashI break, I break horsesI don't tend to them
Tonight I'm swimming to my favorite islandAnd I don't want to see you swimming behindTonight I'm swimming to my favorite islandAnd I don't want to see you swimming behind
No, I break horsesI don't tend to them

 "TIN CANS AND ALLEYWAYS"

DON COOPER

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma6YGUuTxNw

Tin cans and alleyways
See the days I walk through
Old men along the street
Empty walls and yellow sheets
are the only things that I talk to

Where will I go
What will I do
Who will I know
Does it really make a difference anyway
I guess I'll search around
Until I find a quiet town
A little town where maybe
I can put me down to stay
All I want to do is be where
some warm body knows my name

Well I don't have loving
And I don't need money
I never looked for too much from living
Gone lots of places
Seen lots of faces
And accepted what kindly
been given me, honey
