"FALLING"

MICHAEL KIWANUKA

Right or wrong, we've been through it all
Can't believe it's over now
Understand that you'll love again
Word my friends say to me
On my own, all my hope is gone
I dig my knees into the ground
Oh I know, it's so hard to see
Look what you done to me
I'm falling
I'm falling
I'm falling again
I'm falling
I'm falling
I'm falling again
I don't know why I stayed so long
I always knew you'd let me down
I'm the man who belongs alone
Thought that was plain to see
Now you've come back into the fold
You're telling me you want me now
Let me go, leave my head alone
Look what you've done to me
We're falling
We're falling
We're falling again
We're falling
We're falling
We're falling again
Babe, we're falling
Only falling
Lord we're falling again
Babe, we're falling
Oh we're falling
So far we're falling
We're falling again

"COLD LITTLE HEART"

MICHAEL KIWANUKA

Oh
Oh
Ooh, ah
Ah
Ah
Ah
Ah
Ooh ah
Ah
Ah
Ah
Did you ever want it?
Did you want it bad?
Oh, my
It tears me apart
Did you ever fight it?
All of the pain, so much power
Running through my veins
Bleeding, I'm bleeding
My cold little heart
Oh I, I can't stand myself
And I know
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
Did you ever notice
I've been ashamed
All my life
I've been playing games
We can try to hide it
It's all the same
I've been losing you
One day at a time
Bleeding, I'm bleeding
My cold little heart
Oh I, I can't stand myself
And I know
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
Maybe this time I can be strong
But since I know who I am
I'm probably wrong
Maybe this time I can go far
But thinking about where I've been
Ain't helping me start

 "I'VE BEEN DAZED"

MICHAEL KIWANUKA

I've been dazed
My pride is gone
My mistake
Guess I'll move on
London days
It's cold outside
Lost my way
You know I've tried
Won't you carry on?
Won't you carry on?
Help me carry on
Won't you carry on?
The Lord said to me (the Lord said to me)
Time is a healer (time is a healer)
Love is the answer (love is the answer)
I'm on my way (I'm on my way)
The Lord said to me (the Lord said to me)
Time is a healer (time is a healer)
Truth is the answer (truth is the answer)
I'm on the way (I'm on the way)
lost
(Time is a healer, time is a healer) my way
(Love is the answer, love is the answer) you know
(I'm on my way, I'm on my way) I've tried
(The Lord said to me)
Help me carry on (I'm on my way)
Won't you carry on?
(The Lord said to me, the Lord said to me)
Oh
Won't you carry on? Ohh
Won't you carry on?
Now I can carry on
I need peace of mind
Help me carry on, on
I need peace of mind
Help me carry on

"HERO"

MICHAEL KIWANUKA

Am I a hero?
Am I a hero now?
Am I a hero?
Am I a hero now?
Yeah
Please don't shoot me down
I love you like a brother
It's on the news again
I guess they killed another
Am I a hero?
Am I a hero now?
To die a hero
Is all that we know now
Oh, we all get told to go along
Oh, we know it's all for show
We know, we know
Am I a hero?
Am I a hero now?
To die a hero
Is all that we know now
Yeah
Am I a hero?
A fallen hero now?
Hear my sin Lord
Speak no evil now
Am I a hero?
My gun to reload now
A broken people
There go a hero now

"ROLLING"

MICHAEL KIWANUKA

No tears for the young
A bullet if you run away
Another lost one
Like father, like son, we pray
Rolling with the times
Don't be late
Rolling with the times (rolling)
Don't be late
Phantom pain in your arm
Tryna make a mark and change
It's tearing you apart
Afraid of the darker days
Rolling with the times
Don't be late
Rolling with the times (rolling)
Don't be late
Don't be late
Yeah, rolling with the times
Don't be late
Roll on down
Don't be late now
Stay on down
(Rolling)
Rolling with the times, rolling with the times, yeah
Won't you roll? Won't you stay around town?
Oh, gotta be on (rolling)

 "YOU AIN'T THE PROBLEM"

MICHAEL KIWANUKA

La la la la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la
[x2]

Love makes you blind
I hope to find
Who I believe in
Get back in line
I can't deny myself
Show me the feeling
Oh, you got me wrong
If you don't belong
Live in the trouble

Don't hesitate
Time heals the pain
You ain't the problem (I know)
I lived a lie
Love is the crime
It's you I believe in (I know)
No need to play myself
No need to die
I'm only human (I know)
I'm done, you got to put me on
I know when you come along

Don't hesitate
Time heals the pain
You ain't the problem

La la la la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la
[x2]

I point the gun
They shoot for fun
You are the problem
I try to help myself
You are the one
Do all the talkin'
You got me wrong
I caught you fallin'
I hear you callin'

Don't hesitate
Time heals the pain
You ain't the problem (I know)

I lived a dream
I hope to be
Who I believe in (I know)
I used to hate myself
You got the key
Break out the prison (I know)
Ah, I hope to never see time passin'

Don't hesitate
Time heals the pain
You ain't the problem

La la la la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la

"QUALSEVOL NIT POT SORTIR EL SOL"

SISA

Oh, benvinguts, passeu passeu,
de les tristors en farem fum,
que casa meva és casa vostra
si és que hi ha cases d'algú.

Hola Jaimito i doña Urraca,
i en Carpanta i Barba Azul,
i Frankenstein i l'home llop,
i el comte Dràcula i Tarzan,
la mona Xita i Peter Pan.

La senyoreta Marieta
de l'ull viu ve amb un soldat,
els Reis d'Orient, Papa Noel,
el pato Donald i en Pasqual,
la Pepa maca i Superman.

Bona nit senyor King Kong,
senyor Astèrix i en Taxi Key,
Roberto Alcázar i Pedrín,
l'home del sac i en Patufet,
senyor Charlot, senyor Obèlix.

En Pinotxo ve amb la Monyos
agafada del bracet,
hi ha la dona que ven globus,
la família Ulises,
i el Capitán Trueno en patinet.

I a les dotze han arribat
la fada bona i Ventafocs,
en Tom i Jerry, la bruixa Calixta,
Bambi i Moby Dick,
i l'emperadriu Sissí.

I Mortadelo i Filemón,
i Guillem Brown i Guillem Tell,
la Caputxeta Vermelleta, el llop Ferotge,
i el Caganer,
en Cocoliso i en Popeye.

Oh, benvinguts, passeu passeu,
ara ja no hi falta ningú,
o potser sí, ja me n'adono
que tan sols hi faltes tu.

També pots venir si vols,
t'esperem, hi ha lloc per a tots.
el temps no compta, ni l'espai,
qualsevol nit pot sortir el sol.

 "THE CANALS OF YOUR CITY"

BEIRUT

  Walls gone over the sea
But not for me
Watch now, all will end
Now all that I'm, under a tide
Now that I'm, under a tide

Tall hair under it all
Much more than I once had
Over seas

 "THE CHILLS"

PETER, BJORN & JOHN

Your tongue is sharp
but I miss the taste of it
You said time heals
there's not enough of it
The lessons are too cruel to keep
to lock the door to hide the key
To hear you cast a spell so sweet
to still have hours left to sleep
Your fear is crowdin'
And there is still
no place
for someone
like me to fill
Don't know about luck
but I know the lack of it
Don't know about luck
but I'm losing track of it
The lessons are too cruel to keep
to lock the door to go to sleep
I know that time until it kills
You're giving me the chills
Your fear is crowdin'
and there is still
No place
for someone
like me to fill
x2
The lessons are too cruel to keep
to lock the door to hide the key
to hear you cast a spell so sweet
and still have hours left to sleep
Your fear is crowdin'
And there is still
no place
for someone
like me to fill
x2
The lessons are too cruel to keep
to lock the door to go to sleep
I know that time until it kills
You're giving me the chills
I know that time until it kills
you're giving me the chills
you're giving me the chills
you're giving me the chills

 "YOUNG FOLKS"

PETER, BJORN & JOHN

If I told you things I did before
Told you how I used to be
Would you go along with someone like me?
If you knew my story word for word
Had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?
I did before and had my share
It didn't lead nowhere
I would go along with someone like you
It doesn't matter what you did
Who you were hanging with
We could stick around and see this night through
And we don't care about the young folk
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you
Usually when things has gone this far
People tend to disappear
No one will surprise me unless you do
I can tell there's something goin' on
Hours seems to disappear
Everyone is leaving I'm still with you
It doesn't matter what we do
Where we are going to
We can stick around and see this night through
And we don't care about the young folk
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you
And we don't care about the young folk
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about their own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care 'bout is talking
Talking only me and you
Talking only me and you
Talking only me and you
Talking only me and you

 "OBJECTS OF MY AFFECTION"

PETER, BJORN & JOHN

I remember when, when I first moved here,
A long time ago,
'cause I heard some song I used to hear back then,
A lone time ago.
I remember when, even further back,
In another town,
'cause I saw something written I used to say back then,
Hard to comprehend
And the question is, was I more alive
Then than I am now?
I happily have to disagree;
I laugh more often now, I cry more often now,
I am more me.
But of cause some days, I just lie around
And hardly exist,
And can't tell apart what I'm eating
From my hand or my wrist.
'cause flesh is flesh, flesh as flesh as flesh,
The difference is thin.
But life has a certain ability or breathing new
Life into me,
So I breathe it in.
It says here we are, and we all are here,
And you still can make sense,
If you just show up and present an honest face,
Instead of that grin.
And the other day, this new friend of mine
Said something to me
"just because something starts differently,
Doesn't mean it's worth less."
And I soaked it in, how I soaked it in,
How I soaked it in
And just as to prove how right he was,
Then you came.
So I'm gonna give, yes I'm gonna give,
I'm gonna give you a try,
So I'm gonna give, yes I'm gonna give,
I'm gonna give you a try

 "HE LAYS IN THE REINS"

CALEXICO & IRON & WINE

 One more drink tonight
Let your gray stallion rest
Where he lays in the reins
From all of the speed and the strength he gave

One more kiss tonight
From some tall stable girl
She's like grace from the earth
When you're all tuckered out and tame

"Nunca pensé que jamás
Tener la oportunidad
De reencontrar el camino de nuevo
Y formar un mundo mejor."

One more tired thing
A gray moon on the rise
When your want from the day
Makes you to curse in your sleep at night

With one more gift to bring
We may well find you laid
Like your steed in his reins
Tangled too tight and too long to fight

"NOT ANYONE WHO SAYS"

MARY OLIVER

Not anyone who says, “I’m going to be
careful and smart in matters of love,”
who says, “I’m going to choose slowly,”
but only those lovers who didn’t choose at all
but were, as it were, chosen
by something invisible and powerful and uncontrollable
and beautiful and possibly even
unsuitable —
only those know what I’m talking about
in this talking about love.

"TIME TO GO HOME"

CHRIS SMITHER

 I went out walkin’ yesterday
To find my place in the sun
I was told that there’s thieves in the pavement
They’ve stolen everyone

Did you ever take the time to look around you
And find a place to shine
Where you’ll never have to worry
‘Bout who might be watchin’ you?

Cuz now I can see you walkin’ home alone
Drinkin’ all that wine
And I know that somewhere there’s a better way
And I’ll tell you when I’ve found mine

Cuz I can remember when I thought that I could see
When it was so easy
Just you and me
To think I thought it could be that way all the time

Now I just sit here and watch you make all those faces
And turn them into words
Don’t you think, love
You could just tell me
What it is I’ve done?

Don’t just sit there wastin’ all that time
Just tell me what’s on your mind
And ask me if I don’t think it’s time to go home

Don’t you think it’s time to go home?

 "EVERY MOTHER'S SON"

CHRIS SMITHER

I speak to you. I think you'll
Understand. You know you've
Made your son Joseph
A dangerous man.
He's gone to town, he's bought himself a gun.
This could happen to every mother's son.
I spoke to Joseph.
His time has come.
"Vengeance is mine, " he said.
"Come join the fun."
He looked more like a Judas on the run.
This could happen to every mother's son.
Since I spoke to Joseph he's
Gone into town. He killed
Six strong men 'fore they
Shot him down.
I hate to think it's only just begun.
This could happen to every mother's son.
Something to tell you I
Think you should know.
You think too fast and you
Love too slow, you know.
You needn't feel you're the only one.
This could happen to every mother's son.

"MEADOWLARK"
MARY OLIVER

Has anyone seen meadowlark?
I’ve been looking for probably
forty years now

unsuccessfully.

He used to live in the field
 I crossed many a morning
heading to the woods,
 truant again from school.

There were no meadowlarks in the school.
Which was a good enough reason for me
not to want to be there.

But now it’s more serious.
There is no field, neither have the woods survived.

So, where is meadowlark?
If anyone has seen him, please would you let me know
posthaste?

"STORAGE"
MARY OLIVER

When I moved from one house to another
there were many things I had no room
for. What does one do? I rented a storage
space. And filled it. Years passed.
Occasionally I went there and looked in,
but nothing happened, not a single
twinge of the heart.
As I grew older the things I cared
about grew fewer, but were more
important. So one day I undid the lock
and called the trash man. He took
everything.
I felt like the little donkey when
his burden was finally lifted. Things!
Burn them, burn them! Make a beautiful
fire! More room in your heart for love,
for the trees! For the birds who own
nothing - the reason they can fly.

"COWBOY"
BILL CALLAHAM

Well, I've been living like a cowboy
On the late, late movie
All I need is whisky, water, tortillas and beans
And buffalo meat, one time per week
And give me some loving
When I come to town
Riding in on a conversation the morning after
The late, late movie stays with me
Through the mountain past and the prairie grass
Crossing the border like a river
It's all one river
It's all one river crossing
So many times, I can't remember one river
Trying to fit it all in
Before the test pattern and the anthem
And off to bed you go, and off to sleep
And off to dream that trail you ride

"THE MACKENZIES"
BILL CALLAHAN

My car broke down
In front of my house
I was turning it over and over
And an older man came runnin' out
He said "Don't you do that, son
You'll only make it worse
I'll call my buddy Koji
He can fix anything
And he owes me
And my just look at the time
It's almost beer-thirty
Ya must be thirsty
Come on inside with me
Join the family"
Inside it seemed a place had already been laid for me
We never met before
Despite livin' next door
See I'm the type of guy
Who sees a neighbor outside
And stays inside and hides
I'll run that errand another time
As Jack and I bonded over our love of Mel Tormé
And the early movies of Kid and Play
Brenda brought the drinks in on a tray
And said "For dinner you must stay"
It was such a comfy and cozy den
And I wished that Jack would call me "son" again
After dinner we talked some more
Brenda stretched and quickly said
"Let me show you to your bed"
There were photos on the wall
Of a boy maybe twenty-one or so
Leanin' against a brand new Camaro
I could tell by his eyes that he had died
Some time ago
And his room kept alive
I peaked outside through the blinds
At my house next door in the sun
Wife in the rec room
Kids'd be home from school soon
I thought I'd just shut my eyes for five
When I opened them again
Night had come
And brought two figures to the door
And they said "Son, it's okay."
"It's okay. Son. Son. We're okay. We're okay."

"HEAVEN UP THERE"
PALACE

Well the night is gone
And the shadows clear
When I hear my song
The grave beneath
See what you want
But the rising tide
I'm a force of god
A thousand lives
I take what I want
'Cause I'm the frightening sky
I'm a selfish man
Designed to die
But is it heaven up there?
But is it heaven up there?
But is it heaven up there?
Because it's hell down here
But even exist in space
To separate us from them
To know that your blood runs thin
Still live with the truth within
So scrape up the bruise I wear
And eradicate all my fears
But planning to walk these stairs
I don't know where my future is
I don't know where my future is
Is it heaven up there?
Is it heaven up there?
Is it heaven up there?
Is it heaven up there?
Say I've been blind
For the use of my time
I'm gonna be a better man
The ground that I stand
There's something out there
Just know that I've cared
Do this side by side
Motion with the tide
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Is it heaven up there?
Is it heaven up there?
Is it heaven up there?
'Cause it's hell down here
Yes, it's hell down here
Is this heaven up there?
I know there's heaven up there
I know there's heaven up there
'Cause there's heaven up there

"LA VALSE À MILLE TEMPS"
JACQUES BREL

Au premier temps de la valse
Toute seule tu souris déjà
Au premier temps de la valse
Je suis seul mais je t'aperçois
Et Paris qui bat la mesure
Paris qui mesure notre émoi
Et Paris qui bat la mesure
Me murmure, murmure tout bas
Da-da-da
La-la-la-la, la-la!

"MY OWN VERSION OF YOU"
BOB DYLAN

All through the summers, into January
I've been visiting mosques and monasteries
Looking for the necessary body parts
Limbs and livers and brains and hearts
I'll bring someone to life, is what I wanna do
I wanna create my own version of you
Well, it must be the winter of my discontent
I wish you'd've taken me with you wherever you went
They talk all night and they talk all day
But not for a minute, do I believe anything they say
I'm gon' bring someone to life, someone I've never seen
You know what I mean, you know exactly what I mean
I'll take the scar-faced Pacino and the Godfather vandal
Mix it up and attack, and get a robot commander
If I do it up right and put the head on straight
I'll be saved by the creature that I create
I'll get blood from a cactus, gunpowder from ice
I don't gamble with cards and I don't shoot no dice
Can you look in my face with your sightless eyes?
Can you cross your heart and hope to die?
I'll bring someone to life, someone for real
Someone who feels the way that I feel
I study Sanskrit and Arabic to improve my mind
I wanna do things for the benefit of all mankind
I say to the willow tree, "Don't wait for me"
I'm saying to hell with all things that used to be
Well, I get into trouble, then I hit the wall
No place to turn, no place at all
I'll pick a number between a-one and two
And I ask myself, "What would Julius Caesar do?"
I will bring someone to life in more ways than one
Don't matter how long it takes, it'll be done when it's done
I'm gonna make you play the piano like Leon Russell
Like Liberace, like St. John the Apostle
I'll play every number that I can play
I'll see you maybe on Judgment Day
After midnight, if you still wanna meet
I'll be at the Black Horse Tavern on Armageddon Street
Two doors down, not that far a walk
I'll hear your footsteps, you won't have to knock
I'll bring someone to life, balance the scales
I'm not gonna get involved any insignificant details
You can bring it to St. Peter, you can bring it to Jerome
You can bring it all the way over, bring it all the way home
Bring it to the corner where the children play
You can bring it to me on a silver tray
I'll bring someone to life, spare no expense
Do it with decency and common sense
Can you tell me what it means, to be or not to be?
You won't get away with fooling me
Can you help me walk that good land mile?
Can you give me the blessings of your smile?
I'll bring someone to life, use all of my powers
Do it in the dark in the wee, small hours
I can see the history of the whole human race
It's all right there, it's carved into your face
Should I break it all down? Should I fall on my knees?
Is there light at the end of the tunnel, can you tell me please?
Stand over there by the cypress tree
Where the Trojan women and children are sold into slavery
Long before the first Crusade
Way back 'fore England or America were made
Step right into the burnin' hell
Where some of the best-known enemies of mankind dwell
Mr. Freud with his dreams, Mr. Marx with his ax
See the raw hide lash rip the skin from their backs
Got the right spirit, you can feel it you can hear it
You've got what they call the immortal spirit
You can feel it all night, you can feel it in the morn
It creeps in your body, the day you were born
One strike of lightning is all that I need
And a blast of electricity that runs at top speed
Shimmy your ribs, I'll stick in the knife
Gonna jump-start my creation to life
I wanna bring someone to life, turn back the years
Do it with laughter and do it with tears

"TO BE STILL"
ALELA DIANE

Have you been wearing holes in your boots out there?
Have you been kicking bones in the desert sand?
There's a wolf inside the cave and another in the clouds
I've seen them chewing on, on the shadows in your eyes
And it's here at home I wait for your wanders to be still
Oh, it's here at home I wait for your wanders to be still
And I won't drag my feet in whatever dirt you track in
No, I won't drag my feet in whatever dirt you track in
Will you look at me when your face shows the lines of years?
While you've been away I have needed your strong hands
California hills could surely welcome us back home
But the way toward the crop of gold is not far from the snow
No, the way toward the crop of gold is not far from the snow
And it's here at home I wait for your wanders to be still
Oh, it's here at home I wait for your wanders to be still
And I won't drag my feet in whatever dirt you track in
No, I won't drag my feet in whatever dirt you track in
And it's here at home I wait for your wanders to be still
And I won't drag my feet in whatever dirt you track in
